"If I get SSG's through your advice I will send you flowers. Now if that's not incentive then what is haha!"
Well that's incentive enough for me
The Superman Seat Grab (SSG) is more of a multi-stage trick. Where you need to do a few different things to get the desired extension you want. I'll explain it in steps :
1. Approach the ramp in normal body position, but it's easier if you leave your left hand a little loose on the grip (generally for most beginners left hand grab is easier than right hand/or throttle hand).
2. As you leave the ramp, without doing anything else for the first few jumps, get a feel for pushing your body back a little, taking your hand off and reaching for your seat grab. Get a feel for where it is and try to hold it as long as possible from start of the jump to when you land. When you reach back, and grab the hole, grab it with a fair bit of strength so you know you won't slip off. This mainly builds up your confidence.
3. Once you have an idea of the grab, when you leave the top of the jump, lean back a little, get the grab, and once you have the grab you can then begin to just take your feet off the pegs. So you'll be doing like a Seat Grab No Footer.
4. Seat Grab No footers now feel easy? Good!. Now what you need to do is to start doing this process alot faster and as soon as you leave the ramp try to do it all, almost in one smoothe action. You will start to feel yourself fly up higher of the seat each time as you take your feet off. This is great. As long as you can control it and have the strength to pull yourself back onto the bike for landing you're already half-way to a Seat Grab!
5. This step is a clincher and most people will tell you the same, once you grab and let your feet go, you need to point you Ass up to the sky. What you want to do is to get your body horizontal, this will mean your legs will then follow your ass up. (For beginners who may find they don't have enough time to do this - You may find it easier from when you point your ass up, try and actually kick your feet up.. Really give your legs a good flick up and you might find yourself getting into a seat grab for the very first time!!)
Another tip is to also arch your back. If you feel you can't get your body straight, when you leave the ramp, really arch your back as hard as you can to give you an idea on how to get your feet up past the bike.
6. Now you are almost getting your feet up over the bike and amost straight each and everytime? just can't get them fully extended. Now you want to use your left hand on the grab to actually push the bike down a little. This might feel really weird and you might not think your doing anything to the bike, but if you have someone watching you get them to tell you what is actually happening to the bike (OR even video it!!). Push the bike down while your pushing your body up, this will be the best way to extend your legs out straight.
7. Most important part - Get back on!!! When your getting extended you want to pull hard on both hands, so you pull yourself back to the front of the bike to grab on to the bars, which will bring your feet back down to the pegs and in for a safe landing.
In this pic - Notice I have my body completely flattened out (Step 5) Even if my feet weren't completely straight make sure to get your back straight and it will eventually get your legs to come up.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Any questions if you get stuck (As most people will take a fair while to get this trick) Just ask and I'll help you out for your particular problem
