Porting your motor can help you receive an extra couple of horsepower out of your banger, and can be quite and expensive task to get done professionaly. So if you haven't got the bulging pocket, there is still a few little things you can do to get that couple of extra horsepower.

Next time you have the head off your 2 smoker, take a look at your exhaust port. Its very common that the exhaust port is not ground to the maximum size, so you might be lacking a bit of pentential power. Grinding any flat spots out rounder can give you a bit of extra grunt, means could be using a file or a file drill attachment. Do NOT touch any of the intake, cylender or cooling ports, this is best left to the experts. A bit of emery paper to take away any ridges or rough edges is also a good idea.
